Wow, it's been a long time since I last posted >_> Sorry everyone!! ): From now on, I hope to most more then I did this summer. Haha, well, the key word is "hope". School just started on August 27th, and so far it's been pretty tiring. I wish it was still summer, because there are still so many things I wish I could've done.

On the weekend before school started, my family and I went out to get shave ice from the Shimizu's Store,
located down on School Street. Mm, it was so good! They have so many flavors, ranging from the normal: strawberry, banana and vanilla, to the abnormal: milk tea royale, peanut butter chocolate creme and root beer float. I had cherry and strawberry and the entire shave ice was bigger than my head! I was so shocked, most shave ice are just the size of a tennis ball or so, on top of a paper cone. This was a "large" size and was only $3.75, and included up to three flavors. The plastic cone holder was only $0.25 extra, and any other add-in was only about $0.50-$0.75 more, and included ice cream, azuki beans, condensed milk, etc. Having lived on Hawaii all my life and a connoisseur of this local snack, this was by far the biggest I've had (the picture is shown below!)  I would definitely recommend this to any local or visitor to Hawaii, it'll be an experience you'll never forget!

And before I finish up this post, I have a question for whoever is reading this post: What is your opinion on upperclassmen-underclassmen relationships, especially when the girl is older? Your opinion will be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Summer school is over tomorrow!! All I have to deal with is a cumulative essay, covering everything we've gone over for the past 6 weeks. Hm, the questions aren't too bad, I hope I do well. Here is one of our possible three questions: “Leaders during the 1780s appeared to dominate events; in the period of the 1850s, events seemed to dominate leaders.” Assess the validity of this generalization.
I think I can do good on it, I just need to sleep early tonight!!

On a separate note, I was able to see the eclipse on July 21st! It was super cool, since that was the first eclipse I've ever been able to see. Even thought it only blocked out about 10% of the sun, I thought it was a great experience, especially since Hawaii was the only state to be able to see any part of this monumental eclipse. Hopefully I'll be able to see the entirety of the next total solar eclipse in 2032!

Band camp starts next well, so I'm not going to be able to update at all during that time! ):

Where did all the heat go? It was above 90 degrees last week, but today it was raining. And cool. o_O I guess this is a good thing, we really needed the rain, everything had been starting to dry out :) So many things have been happening lately, it's almost insane to me. I can't believe that Michael Jackson has passed away. I resent not being able to fully experience the legacy of the King of Pop.
Rest in peace Michael Jackson & Billy Mays!

On another note, I'm super excited that tomorrow is my birthday! Strangely, I'm mostly excited that I'll have summer school on my birthday XD;; This will be the first time in my life that I'll be able to see my friends on my birthday. I had always been somewhat envious of those whose birthdays were during the school year, carrying a bouquet of flowers, balloons strapped to their backpacks, or a large bundle of wrapped packages in their arms. Well, hopefully tomorrow will be a great day! I've been looking forward to this day for such a long time :)

I've recently read a person's post on Blogger about teenage angst. I know this person, since she attends the same school as me, but I found this post to be a bunch of B.S. She mainly talked about how she doesn't understand why people pass judgment about her, when I know she does this to other people as well. In my eyes, I see her as a attention-loving whore (sorry for the language, but it's a long story. Basically she had sex with her current boyfriend, while she was still going out with her former boyfriend...) I normally don't think passing judgment is a good thing to do, especially if you don't know a person, but for people like her, I think it's well deserved. and well, in society, we'd be nothing if we didn't think some way about other people, it's just the way we are. We're not going to get a long with everyone in society, even if we try our hardest. There is much more to the story, and I won't elaborate too much, but what do you think about this person and passing judgment?

Hey everyone :)

Sorry for not posting for such a long time ): I started summer school and just got a job babysitting as well. Everything is so hectic now days (especially when I was starting to enjoy summer!) sigh, it seems like I've gone back to school already XD;; oh well, I guess it's a good thing that summer school is only 6 weeks long.

While I've been away from livejournal, I've also been able to:
- Become mildly obsessed with Big Bang (a Korean pop group)
- Actually like a song by Lady Gaga (Boys Boys Boys XD;;)
- See Confessions of a Shopaholic (it was really good and not what I expected, I highly recommend it!)
- Finish Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

Haha, that's about it, my week hasn't been too exciting. I hope next week is more exciting, my birthday is coming up! :)

Today was so hot o_o;; it was ninty degrees, but it felt even hotter! So, my mom and I decided it was the perfect day to treat ourselves to some YOGURTLAND! :D I got my favorite combination: fresh strawberry and blueberry tart with kiwis, stawberries and condensed milk on top. It was so yummy ^__^

Yogurtland is, as of now, my favorite place for deserts! I don't know why, but a lot of my friends prefer Menchies Frozen Yogurt (I find their yogurt too sweet and not as yummy...) I love the loads of different flavors and topping options that Yogurtland offers. Also, they are a few cents cheaper than Menchies! Nom nom nom :)

Just recently, I learned that baking is my way of relieving stress. It helps me, especially when I need a break from studying from finals or just when I want to make myself a quick snack. I love trying new recipes and helping my mom and grandma out in the kitchen. I recently found this recipe for chewy chocolate chip cookies on the internet. The pictures looked good and it seemed easy enough- so I tried it!

It turned out to be one of the best cookies I've ever eaten. Seriously. After baking the first batch, all of the cookies were thick and chewy. I have never been able to make chewy cookies before! I gave some to my friends the day after, and they all enjoyed them a lot! I wanted to share the recipe with everyone today, so hopefully you'll be able to also make these wonderful treats! :)

INGREDIENTS
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.
2. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
3. In a medium bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until well blended. Beat in the vanilla, egg, and the egg yolk until light and creamy. Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon. Drop cookie dough 1/4 cup at a time onto the prepared cookies sheets. Cookies should be about 3 inches apart.
4. Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

I got the recipe from this site. I hope you all enjoy it, if you do try out this recipe! :)

My friend sent me this video a day or two ago. In the past week or so, I have really stared to like K-Pop. I actually watched the beginning of this music video, but I didn't understand it ): Anyway, this has the english lyrics to the song! I really like this song and music video (it even made me cry the first time I watched it XD;;) Anyway, it's a good video to watch if you have the time! :)

Anyway, I guess this made me cry since I've kind of felt really down these past few days. I've just been super confused since  my best friend and I tried out for the drum major position in our high school marching band. Basically my friend got it. It's not that I'm jealous (I'm sure I'm not! I'm actually happy for him, as hard as that was) it's just that I know how little he actually wanted the position. Has anyone out there wanted something so bad, and thought they had it, when in actuality it just slipped through their fingers? Well, that's how it feels like to me. I know I wanted this position so much more than my friend did, but he got it. I just dot think it's fair ):

Well, I guess I'll just have to live with it. At this point, I'm the most scared that I won't be able to look at my friend the same way again... It's just going to be a few more months until marching band season is over, and I really hope this doesn't break our friendship!

For whomever may be reading this, hi and welcome to my blog! :) Well, to start off, I'm currently at a loss for words. This is my first live journal/blog, and it seems kind of hard to start off. I usually would start off with an introduction, but it may seem too boring to actually read. this entire post actually seems boring to me.

Well, I'll just go with a self-introduction. My name is Aki, and I'm currently at high school student living in Hawai'i. The dramas I face with in life can be classified as common and bizarre, but I somehow get by with the help of my boyfriend, parents and best friend. I love relaxing by watching movies, listening to music, manga/anime, writing fan fiction, taking pictures and day dreaming. I believe in many things and is always open to new perspectives.

Anyway, I just got back from a four-day family trip to Seattle. It was really fun, although I wish I hadn't gotten sick on the last day ): I was so sad when I had to stay in our hotel room with food poisoning ): Anyways, I can't wait to go back! I love going to the mainland to shop (bath and body works, ftw!) they have so many shops that we don't have here in Hawai'i! I have concluded that the Kinokuniya inside of Uwajimaya is now one of my all time favorites stores :D

I'll be adding more posts soon! Feel free to post or pm me! I love making new friends! :)
